During the summer months (late August – April) temperatures are high, the hottest usually being October at around 35⁰.   In November to March, the rainy season, humidity is high.  Rainfall varies but tends to be short sharp showers sometimes with spectacular thunder and lightning.

ELECTRICITY: Voltage 220V.  UK square 3-pin sockets (we have a supply of international adapters). Power cuts are relatively frequent and whilst we have a backup generator we do recommend that you bring a torch and extra batteries, just in case.

VISAS: Most nationalities require a visa to enter Zambia.  European and North American visitors can buy visas (single and multiple entry) on arrival at Livingstone, Lusaka, Kazungula (from Botswana) and Victoria Falls (from Zimbabwe) the average rate is $50 for a single entry and $80 for a multiple entry, but these rates can vary for some nationalities.

The KAZA VISA is available to buy at the border in Livingstone Airport, Kazungula, Lusaka and Vic Falls in Zimbabwe.   For $50 the visa allows unlimited travel between Zambia and Zimbabwe for a period of 30 days, and also allows day trips out to Botswana.  The KAZA VISA is available to European states, North America, Australia and New Zealand - check your national information before you travel.

Residents of some other countries need to apply in advance for a visa, and everyone should check with their Zambian Embassy or High Commission before travel.  Any guest planning to cross over to Zimbabwe to see the Falls from the other side, or into Botswana for a visit to Chobe, and who does not qualify for the Kaza Visa,  must be sure to ask for a Multiple Entry Visa to avoid having to pay again when re-entering Zambia.
